SIXTEEN heavenly voices illuminated in twinkling candlelight are sure to lift Christmas spirits at Red Hill’s historic St Brigid’s church on December 12.
St Brigid’s organist and carols organiser Roland Bartkowiak adores Christmas music.
“As soon as we start practicing the Christmas songs, you can see the choir’s faces light up,” he said.
He said it is more than entertainment; “Church music has a real purpose and soul because it sings the Mass”.
With only weeks until Christmas day, traditional carols will be sung in parishes across Brisbane.
St Brigid’s carols ceremony packs more than the familiar carols.
Mr Bartkowiak said there would be music from Bach, Lauridsen, Stanford, Corelli and more.
He said the choir would “explore the heritage of music composed down the centuries”.
Afterwards will come classics like White Christmas and Sleigh Ride and more, he said.
The carols ceremony will be held at St Brigid’s Church on Sunday, December 12 at 7pm.
Mr Bartkowiak said the event is free and there is ample parking onsite.
