THE Church was multicultural from the very beginning, Darra Jindalee Fr Jan Bialasiewicz told his parishioners at their multicultural Sunday Mass.

He pointed to Our Lady as a good example.

He said when she appeared in Guadalupe, she appeared as an Aztec princess, taking on the culture of the people who she wanted to reach.

The apostles too, he said, went out to Greeks and Romans.

He said the Mass had included parts with native languages from parishioners as well as a special procession with the gifts by the Samoan community.

The hymns had also been arranged in many languages.

Fr Bialasiewicz said the Sunday was a great day.

He counted about 400 parishioners who stayed after Mass to take part in the festivities.

He said everyone had the chance to pray together, recognise the richness each community brought to the parish and have fun together.

He said it was sunny weather and there was lots of good food from many communities.
