YERONGA parishioner Joanne Johnson said she was proud to be Queensland’s representative at the Best of Australia quilt display held in Brisbane recently.
It was her first time representing after deferring twice due to COVID-19 event restrictions.
The Best of Australia quilt display, hosted by the Australasian Quilt Convention, were for those who won the 2019 state award.
Mrs Johnson’s quilt, Liberty Vineyard (pictured) is her original design, featuring Liberty of London pure cotton fabric.
The approximately 2m square quilt took a year to complete and involved around 80 hours of hand quilting.
Mrs Johnson is an active member of the State guild, Queensland Quilters and the Kenmore-based Schoolhouse Quilters.
Over the past ten years her quilts have been selected to represent Queensland at the national level on three occasions.
