BRISBANE Deacon Peter Pellicaan is answering some of humanity’s most profound questions about God and the universe in a new podcast series called Catholic Christianity, which launched on September 21.

Deacon Pellicaan, who is Evangelisation Brisbane’s executive director, said the “need for online evangelisation is essential if we are going to heed Jesus’ commission to ‘make disciples of all nations’”.

The series looks to answer questions like:

  • Has science disproved God?
  • Is there such thing as my truth and your truth?
  • Are there logical reasons to believe in God?
  • If God is real, how can we know who God is?
  • Can we trust the bible?

Deacon Pellicaan said “the teachings of the Catholic Church, properly explained and understood are compelling, life giving and transformational”.

“The encounter with God, most fully experienced through the sacramental life, is the deepest desire of the human heart and is the source of joy, faith, hope and love.

“I’m excited to be able to share the beauty of our tradition in the online space.”

The first episode of the podcast tackled questions about truth and God.

After distinguishing subjective statements from objective statements, Deacon Pellicaan said it was essential to find out what the truth is “and align ourselves with it”.

“We seek to discover what actually is the truth,” he said.

“One of the challenges of religion is that Jesus makes some objective statements that are quite confronting and if they are true, they have incredible importance not just for people who believe but for all humanity.”

Deacon Pellicaan answers this “challenge of religion” with rational arguments and articulates why the matters of God belong on the forefront of a thinking mind regardless of the conclusion an individual draws.

The podcast is the centrepiece of an online evangelisation platform including a website and social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.

Each segment runs about 20-minutes and can be viewed in audio and video formats.
