AFTER two years without perpetual adoration because of the pandemic, Brisbane Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Committee member Roy Pires said he was blown away by the number of adorers signing up across the city in the last two months.
It had grown so much the group changed the name from “Northside” to “Brisbane Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration” to encourage more people and churches to join the roster.
He said in years past, when perpetual adoration was held at Villa Maria Chapel in Spring Hill, there had been some hesitation from people to join because of travel requirements.
But with more churches taking up the call, it had become easier for people to get involved because it was all done locally, he said.
The current list of churches and days were:
- Sunday – Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, Everton Park
- Monday – Corpus Christi Church, Nundah
- Tuesday – St Michael’s War Memorial Church, Dorrington and Our Lady Help of Christians, Hendra
- Wednesday – Holy Spirit Church, Pine Rivers
- Thursday – Little Flower Church, Kedron
- Friday – Our Lady and St Dympna’s Church, Aspley
- Saturday – Holy Trinity Church, Banyo
So far, five of the churches have been able to fill a 24-hour roster since it began in January.
Mr Pires said he was surprised by how many new people who had never adored before were coming along, especially the number of young people who had joined.
He said the whole experience had brought “lots of evangelisation” because of the conversations it started in parishes too.
Currently, there was a need for more adorers for Banyo and Hendra.
