NEW Farm parish administrator Fr Leo Coote has dreamed up a new slant on the works of William Shakespeare and published it as a book.
The book, My Life as a Bard Dream, was launched at Dooley’s Hotel, Fortitude Valley, on April 5 by University of Queensland English Department senior lecturer Dr Peter Holbrook.
Some of the proceeds from the sale of the book will go towards restoring a large mural covering the semi-dome of the sanctuary above the altar at Holy Spirit Church, New Farm.
The book, subtitled ” A Gallimaufry of Bad Gambles” is based on the hypothesis that many everyday sayings have evolved from quotes and phrases from Shakespeare’s plays.
The book is 136 pages long and is available for $29.99 plus postage from Holy Spirit Presbytery, 16 Villiers St, New Farm, Qld 4005, phone (07) 3358 3744.
