REMEMBRANCE and Healing is calling on members of Lismore diocese to join them at the Lismore Library to remember the pain and suffering of those affected by the Hiroshima Bombings, on August 6 at 5pm.

The service marks 70 years since atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Remembering and Healing Inc. make it their mission to commemorate all those who suffered at the hands of war and recognise the bombings as a tragic event that should not be forgotten and something to learn from.

They will affirm their commitment to non-violent solutions to conflicts, nuclear disarmament and their overall goal to working for peace, through elements on the Remembrance Day.

The ceremony will commence with short film On a Paper Crane from the international organisation Mayors for Peace, giving the audience context into the sheer scale of suffering.

This will be followed by prayers for peace from representatives of community groups.

All community members are encouraged to come reflect on the past and pray for a better future.
