A BEENLEIGH couple is leading a prayer campaign at this weekend’s Brisbane Sexpo.
Maria and John Truelson will lead prayer walks around the Sexpo venue at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Bank.
They are praying particularly against the live sex shows the event has promoted – where couples behind screens can be seen in silhouette by audiences.
Ms Truelson said they would be praying for the people involved.
‘Human sexuality is an awesome gift from God, by which we share in His creative power, not a commodity to be cheapened, degraded and exploited,’ she said.
‘We have great dignity as children of God, made in His image and likeness. Sexual immorality distorts the image and defaces the likeness.’
Auxiliary Bishop Brian Finnigan, in a statement on Sexpo, said while the event was legal, the archdiocese advised Catholics and like-minded people in the wider community to exercise their better judgment and avoid the event.
‘The archdiocese views the Sexpo as being in poor taste and the promotion of it a sorry reflection on the level of marketing and business standards,’ Bishop Finnigan said.
