Parishes given option to seat at full capacity for Christmas Masses

Parishes will be able to seat more at Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses.

QUEENSLAND parishes will have the option to extend seating to 100 per cent capacity for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses if allocated seating is ticketed and monitored by marshals.

This option has been made available for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses, ac- cording to recent advice from Queensland Health to the Brisbane archdiocese.

The 100 per cent capacity option requires that parishes allocate exactly how many seats are in each row – perhaps using a numbered sticker to mark each seat – and only issuing the amount of tickets up to that seating capacity.

If parishes are not using an online ticketing sys- tem, then the parish marshals must collect contact details on paper and allocate ticketed seating up to the number of seats in the worship space.

There is no standing room available for parish- ioners under this option.

Brisbane archdiocese has informed parishes that it is their choice to determine if they could adopt this new option for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses.

Existing COVID-safe rules still apply for parishes that are unable to adopt this option, including the two-square-metre rule for both indoor and outdoor venues with pre-booking and registration as a must.
