SOMEONE above must have heard the prayers of Cathedrals Week organisers this year.
For the first time since the Brisbane biennial festival began in 1997, a 1000-flag parade to herald the week-long cultural event was not cancelled because of rain.
The parade on May 18 included representatives from each of the 11 Churches involved in the week-long celebration of ecumenism and spirituality.
The parade started at 3pm from St John’s Anglican Cathedral in Ann St and wound its way down Edward St to St Stephen’s Cathedral.
Church organisations, agencies, parishes and schools were represented in the sea of colour stretching several city blocks.
