THE Gold Coast’s new $48 million St Vincent’s Hospital and Health Service Robina was officially opened by Queensland Health Minister Wendy Edmond on August 25.
Ms Edmond said the facility was a major boost for health on the Gold Coast. She said it was already helping to meet the pressures of the Gold Coast’s high population growth.
The hospital was blessed by Auxiliary Bishop Michael Putney.
It was built by the Sisters of Charity Health Service and took its first patients in mid-April.
Ms Edmond said the Queensland Government was working with the sisters to expand health services on the Gold Coast.
“Through this new hospital, there has been a significant increase in public renal dialysis, chemotherapy, surgery, palliative care, rehabilitation and mental health services on the Gold Coast,” she said.
“This has meant improved services and better access to quality health care for residents close to where they live on the southern end of the coast.
“The impact on waiting times for many of the services provided at St Vincent’s, Robina, has been very positive and welcome.”
