HOW does an expectant mother feel when an obstetrician tells her the child in her womb is a “lethal baby”?
Courageous Brisbane woman Sarah Rossic will speak of this experience to the large crowd expected to gather for the February 21 Rally for Life in Queen’s Park in Brisbane CBD.
She will join speakers Victorian MP Bernie Finn and Brisbane’s Priceless Life director Catherine Toomey.
“When a doctor told me this, I felt like I was carrying some weapon of mass destruction not a human being,” Mrs Rossic said.
“The label was among ways various doctors went about trying to convince me and my husband Simon to terminate our baby’s life.
“They hadn’t even bothered to find out where we stood with this.
“So they were quite clueless about the fact that we were from a pro-life Christian community.”
Mrs Rossic said their son Liam had survived only a few hours after being born at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
“He was born with a bladder obstruction and complete kidney failure,” she said.
“However, God blessed us in so many ways … He gave us strength to deal with the ordeal.
“And since Liam died in 2005 we have been blessed with the miracle of three beautiful sons in addition to the daughter, Christianna, we had before Liam arrived.”
The mother of four stepped in at short notice to take the place of a speaker who was going to speak on the pressure she faced to abort her son who has Down Syndrome.
“It’s the first time I will be speaking to such a large gathering about our son’s death,” Mrs Rossic said.
“I was hesitant at first but after waiting 24 hours to process and pray about this, I decided it was a really good opportunity to not only speak about the pressure from the medical community to abort Liam but also to tell about the amazing things God has done for our family.”
The Rally for Life will start with a performance from Roby Curtis and Band at 1.15pm with the main event, including speakers, starting at 2pm.
