HUNDREDS of families visited the Vietnamese Catholic Community Centre, Inala, in Brisbane’s south-west, for the annual Multicultural Fiesta on September 22.
Children, teenagers and adults were treated to an array of entertainment, foods and cultures on display.
Vincent Do, of the Ethnic Youth Ministry Council – who organised the event with the Ethnic Ministers’ Group and the Centre for Multicultural Pastoral Care – said about 6000 people attended.
“We’ve noticed a trend in the last three years that the numbers are increasing,” he said.
Mr Do said the day gave a variety of cultures the chance to represent their region through dance and song as well as “to fundraise for their community”.
Vietnamese, Korean, Indian, Chinese, African, Filipino, Timorese, Italian and Indonesian communities were represented.
Bishop Brian Finnigan opened the event after a welcome from Centre for Multicultural Pastoral Care director Ursuline Sister Anne Surtees.
The magic show and fireworks display were among the popular attractions.
