MORE than 50 people from several Christian traditions learned a little more about the Islamic faith when they visited the Kuraby mosque, in Brisbane’s south, on April 8.
The group, many of them young people from the Catholic, Uniting, Lutheran and Baptist Churches, were welcomed by the mosque’s assistant Imam Mohamad Abdalla and Monday night worshippers.
The visit was organised by Young Adult Ministry, a part of Brisbane Catholic Education’s Faith Education Services.
Mosque visit organiser Madonna Botting said that after touring the building, guests observed evening prayer, and then had the opportunity to ask questions.
`Mohamad Abdalla said he was delighted at the interest the visit generated.
‘It is obvious that many people wish to build bridges between our communities,’ he said.
Young Adult Ministry has organised another visit to the mosque in the near future.
