ARCHBISHOP John Bathersby of Brisbane will celebrate a special Mass in St Stephen’s Cathedral on October 19 at 4.30pm to coincide with the beatification of Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
Pope John Paul II will proclaim her Blessed Teresa of Calcutta at a ceremony in the Vatican on the same day.
The Missionaries of Charity, the order founded by Mother Teresa, has a community in Brisbane and in several other parts of Australia.
The sisters in Sydney will join with the rest of the community in the city in celebrating Mother Teresa’s beatification with Mass at 10.30am on October 19 in St Mary’s Cathedral.
In Melbourne, Archbishop Denis Hart will be principal celebrant at a Mass of thanksgiving for Mother Teresa in St Patrick’s Cathedral on October 23 at 7.30pm.
