Little girl with a big heart

LITTLE Georgia Elliott is just six years old, but she is already helping children in Third World countries.

Georgia recently handed over $70 to the St Vincent de Paul Society to help a child in East Timor as part of the Assist a Student Program.

She raised the money over six months by doing gardening jobs for neighbours and family and by holding her own stall at her parents’ garage sale.

Georgia’s mum, Leticia, said the idea followed a visit to her daughter’s Year 1 class by a classmate’s father who was seeking donations for East Timor.

Leticia said after making enquiries she had been unable to find anywhere that would allow her and her six year-old as volunteers because of liability laws.

She said it had taken her daughter six months to raise the $70 which would educate one child for a year.

Georgia is now in Year 2 at St Peter’s Primary School, Rochedale.
