ARCHBISHOP John Bathersby of Brisbane is inviting Catholics returning to church this Christmas for the first time in a long while, to consider making a regular commitment to worship.
His invitation is included in a message on a specially produced Christmas card that will be distributed in parishes throughout the archdiocese this weekend.
About 27,000 cards have been printed and will be available in about 30 parishes.
The card features the theme, “God overflows in mission to the world”, on the cover.
Archbishop Bathersby says in his message: “For those who have been away from the Church, I understand the complexities and demands that can make regular commitment to worship difficult.
“Yet it can’t be denied that without your presence here we are the poorer.
“I would like to ask you to consider reconnecting to your life in Christ.”
The card also includes a special Christmas hotline to encourage irregular Massgoers to find out how they can reconnect with the Church. The phone number is (07) 3833 4389.
