NINE month-old Dylan Geary is a lively, alert and delightful child who is interested in the ever-changing world around him.
But as a result of a medical emergency in the final stage of labour and oxygen deprivation, Dylan is brain injured.
Parents Mark and Louise sat by Dylan’s bedside in intensive care for more than three weeks after his birth in April 2001 and when he did come home, it was with a feeding tube down his nose.
It has been a hard struggle for the family from Ashgrove in Brisbane. Dylan is unable to sit up on his own and cannot crawl but Mark and Louise have started an intensive neurological and physical program, hoping to assist Dylan to reach his highest potential.
However, the family has been forced to live on one income due to Dylan’s needs and Mark and Louise are appealing for anyone in their area to help them.
Volunteers who would like to assist with Dylan’s developmental learning and exercises and are available to be rostered on a weekly schedule can phone (07) 3366 1271.
