TWO parishes have rallied to take a family from northern NSW into their hearts after an accident that changed the family forever.

Catriona Callaghan, 27, fell down five steps in the house she and Todd Robinson were renovating at Casino on January 14.

She is now a quadriplegic, unable to move her body from the shoulders down.

“It was only five stairs,” she said from the home they now rent at Bulimba in Brisbane’s eastern suburbs. “But I must have fallen the wrong way.”

The accident meant the family had to move from Casino to Brisbane, where Catriona can receive the care she needs. Their children, Abraham, 6, and Tamar, 5, attend Sts Peter and Paul’s School, Bulimba.

Casino parish priest Fr Rex Hackett said that the young and struggling family had been adopted by both his parish and Bulimba parish.

Sts Peter’s and Paul’s School, Bulimba is planning a number of fundraisers for the family in coming weeks.
