IN a modern version of the loaves and fishes story, a crowd with a big appetite helped break the world record for the largest bowl of cereal at an Australia Day breakfast in Anzac Park, Toowong.
More than 4000 people turned up on January 26 to enjoy The Great Aussie Breakfast, organised by Brisbane Christian radio station 96.5 Family FM and sponsored by Sanitarium.
During the morning’s celebrations and activities, the Guinness World Record for the largest bowl of cereal was created by the dedicated crowd and organisers.
Radio 96.5 FM spokesman, Jason Berry, said 8752 bars of Weetbix, were used to fill a giant bowl, specially made for the event.
“We had two independent judges present and we broke the record, simply because it’s never been done before,” he said.
The contents of the bowl was then used to feed the thousands of people who participated in the event.
