THERE were eight good reasons to celebrate when that many members of a Rwandan family were baptised on the same day in Stafford parish on Brisbane’s northside.
John Ndayisemga and his wife Winifred Nikuze had their seven children and one grandchild baptised in the ceremony at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church on March 5.
The family sang Rwandan songs at the beginning and end of the ceremony, and then invited people back to their home to continue the celebrations.
Parish priest Fr Kevin Carey said it was a first for him to baptise eight people from the one family in the one ceremony, but it was the spirit of the occasion that really impressed him.
