Brisbane group supporting Holy Spirit’s renewal
RELEASING the Holy Spirit into Brisbane is on the archdiocese’s sanctioned charismatic renewal organisation’s agenda for the next three years.
The Catholic Charismatic Renewal Brisbane recently elected its new archdiocesan service committee to look after its 35 prayer groups.
The organisation offers support and formation for prayer groups in parishes between Hervey Bay and Ballina.
President Len Airey said the next three years would focus on servicing the Church in response to Pope Francis.
“We will increase our response to the call of Pope Francis to CCR worldwide, ‘to share with all in the Church the baptism you have received’,” Mr Airey said.
Members will also focus on supporting parishes in the archdiocese.
Their next visit will be to St Mary’s parish in Kingaroy where they will help form a prayer group.
“The basic reason a parish would have a prayer group is so they can be released in the Holy Spirit,” Mr Airey said.
“We support people for the Holy Spirit to be released in their and give them life renewed.”
In 2017, the renewal will celebrate 50 years since its birth in the Catholic Church in 1967.
Pope Francis has invited international members of the renewal, including those from the Brisbane archdiocese, to Rome for the golden jubilee.
