STUDENTS from Shalom College in Bundaberg have helped to establish a fairy garden at Bundaberg Base Hospital.
The Fairy Sparkle garden, costing $100,000, is the first of its kind in Queensland.
About 2000 people turned up for the opening last month which was attended by Fairy Sparkle herself.
The garden walls are painted with murals and 19 fairy statues and giant mushrooms, and toadstools dot the path through the gardens.
Wheelchair access and bench seats have been provided.
There is also a bridge that crosses a river of coloured water.
Students at Shalom College raised more than $1000 towards the garden.
The garden’s purpose is to provide an enjoyable and tranquil environment for the hospital’s young patients, particularly long term ones.
