EVANGELISATION Resources Down Under is set to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their Bible Institute initiative with a visit from an international scholar.
ERDU began from humble traditions in Petrie parish with the simple mission of using the word of God to grow the faith.
Since its establishment it’s been a meteoric rise for ERDU who distribute evangelisation materials from Little Rock, The Word Among Us and Little Books, beyond the boundaries of Petrie parish.
Through their promotion of their cause, ERDU have forged an affiliation with a number of organisations which offer a similar message.
The strongest relationship is with Little Rock Scripture Study, from Arkansas, USA.
ERDU director Bernadette Holdsworth said one parishioner was integral in the work.
“Jan Heath, one of our parishioners, wanted to bring the scriptures alive, making them accessible to everyday Catholics,” Mrs Holdsworth said.
The Bible Institute was established to bring together Catholics to be educated first hand by some of the leading figures in evangelisation preaching.
“The Bible Institute is a place of learning, surrounded by prayer,” she said.
This year the institute marks ten years of learning and features a presenter who has been integral to the concept.
Little Rock Scripture Study director Catherine Upchurch is travelling from Arkansas to help give back to an organisation which has shown long-term loyalty.
Mrs Holdworth said Little Rock had been an inspiration for ERDU and it was honoured to have someone of Mrs Upchurch’s significance to address the gathering for the first time since she hosted the inaugural year.
The Bible Institute will be held on July 3-4 at ACU Campus Banyo.
