ST Therese’s Outside School Hours Care raised more than $1200 at their first Biggest Breakfast to raise funds for Cancer Council Queensland.
Parents, children, parishion-ers, OSHC and school staff members of St Therese’s School attended the event recently.
Cancer Council Queensland fundraising co-ordinator Berni McKean, who attended the fundraiser, commended St Therese’s OSHC on “a phenomenal effort”.
OSHC service’s co-ordinator Terry Rooke said “we wanted to lend our support to a worthy cause while also showing the children how important it is to be charitable”.
“The breakfast was supported by local businesses’ kind donations of fruit juice drinks and bread,” he said. “A hot cuppa, sausages, homemade biscuits and slices were all on the menu.”
Mr McKean said “every dollar counts as we strive towards a cancer-free future – something which could not be achieved without vital support from businesses like St Therese’s OSHC”.
“All funds raised will support Cancer Council Queensland’s world-class cancer research, prevention and early-detection programs, and patient support services,” he said.
