CHILDREN at St Ita’s Primary School, Dutton Park, brought the story of Jesus’ passion and death to life with a sense of joy at a special end of term Easter reflection.
Family and friends of the school community watched as the school’s 402 students re-enacted the story of the death of Our Lord on April 4.
Each year level acted out different moments of the Passion, leading viewers through a reflective song.
Acting assistant principal for religious education Lisa-Marie Louange said this year’s reflections were a chance for the whole school community to see the story from start to finish.
“In this way you see a continuity of Jesus’ suffering on the cross,” Miss Louange said.
“It gives the kids an idea of the true meaning of Easter, to remember that it’s about the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for us.”
Miss Louange said the active involvement, which included children singing, doing liturgical actions and acting out scenes from the Gospels, especially kept the “little kids” engaged.
Principal Maureen Thomas said the Easter reflections were a fantastic way for the entire community to prepare for Holy Week.
