ST Dympna’s Primary School, Aspley, is celebrating its golden anniversary this year.
The school, established by the Sisters of St Joseph, turns 50 this year, and past students, staff and parents are being invited to return for the celebrations.
Assistant principal for religious education Liz Pashen said that, in 1963, the school had 60 students in the first Year 1 class and enrolments had grown to 685 students.
The school community held a jubilee dinner in May and Archbishop Mark Coleridge will celebrate a jubilee Mass on August 11 in the school hall.
“That will be followed by a family Jubilee Fair with rides, stalls and plenty of entertainment,” Ms Pashen said.
“At 11.30am there will be the opening of the time capsule buried during the school’s 25th anniversary celebration.”
Ms Pashen said all St Dympna’s past and current pupils, parents and friends were invited to attend.
