FOUR students from St Brigid’s Primary School, Rosewood have starred at the ninth Annual Matthew Flinders Anglican College Schools’ Challenge Open Showjumping Competition at Nambour Showgrounds.
On August 17, students from 48 schools, totalling 150 riders, competed in three rounds of jumping for individual height class champion and combined for a team’s perpetual trophy.
This event is a major fund raiser for the Sunshine Coast Children’s Therapy Centre.
Brook Dougall rode Prospect White Hill Magic, Bella Koroloff rode Carrickdale Diva and Miss Molly, Paige Koroloff rode Wendy Wildfire and Jack Davis rode Sasha represent to St Brigid’s.
A spokeswoman said spirits were high as they walked the courses at 7.30am and horses were ready for a long and exciting day of competition.
“Paige was the first to ride in the indoor arena followed by Jack and Bella with Jack placing first, Bella second and Paige fourth in the 40-50cm Primary AM5,” she said.
“Next, Bella and Brook placed fifth and third respectively in the 80-90cm Primary AM7.  
“Next round was the 40-50cm Primary
Power and Speed seeing Paige place second, Jack third and Bella fifth.
 “The last round for the 40-50cm primary was an AM7 resulting in a second place for Bella and a third for Jack.
“On completion of the three rounds for 40-50cm primary the individual results have Jack first place and champion, Bella third and Paige fifth overall. “
She said the 80-90cm Primary AM5 saw Brook, riding Magic, set an incredible jump off time putting her in first place followed by Bella, riding Carrickdale Diva, in second place with less than one second separating them.
“Other competitors tried, but none came close to beating either time resulting in St Brigid’s finishing first and second,” she said.
“The last round of the 80-90cm primary was a Power and Speed late in the afternoon where Brook placed sixth giving her the individual reserve champion for the 80-90cm Primary.
“The event presentation saw Jack winning a Tekna saddle for champion rider 40-50cm Primary, Brook winning a horse rug for reserve champion 80-90cm primary and Bella winning a bag of horse feed for third place in the 40-50cm Primary section.
“The total team points were tallied placing all four riders first in the primary section winning the teams Champion School Trophy for St Brigid’s.”
