XAVIER Catholic College, Hervey Bay, show-ed its support for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation by having a day recently when students and staff wore a red shirt.
Students across the Prep-Year 12 campus donned a red shirt and donated a gold coin as a contribution to the work the foundation does in the area of child safety awareness. The school raised $450.
Co-ordinator of the day’s activities Leonie White said, “Remember Day for Daniel is not a memorial day.
It is a day where we can use the very real story as an example to children of the need to be equipped with skills and confidence to recognise dangerous situations or physical abuse and do something about it.”
Daniel Morcombe has been missing since he was last seen waiting for a bus on Nambour Connection Road under the Kiel Mountain Road overpass at Woombye on the Sunshine Coast on December 7, 2003.
He was 13.
