SIENA College on the Sunshine Coast celebrated its 10th anniversary with a “birthday party” on March 23.

The event, complete with cake, balloons and specially themed Siena lollies, gave students the opportunity to acknowledge the milestone.

This was followed by a function the next day which included school tours, a barbecue and fireworks.

Speakers reminisced about Siena’s many achievements in the past decade during an afternoon liturgy.

Those present were also able to enjoy the first performance of Siena’s new school song written, composed and performed by Jane Massingham.

The college’s Parents and Friends group also presented to the college an artwork, the “Comfort and Joy Cross” by Maleny wood sculptor Jim Svensson.

Tributes to Siena’s foundation principal, the late Bryan Baker, wove a common thread throughout the celebrations.

Siena College, situated on a 13ha campus at Sippy Downs, is a co-educational school catering for Years 8-12 and is nearing its enrolment cap of 750 students.

The college shares the campus with Siena Primary School, a Prep to Year 7 school which is planned to grow to 750 students by 2009.
