LORETO College, Coorparoo turned an “important page” officially opening a new building to showcase stage one of the school’s multi-million dollar development.
The college’s “highly anticipated” Cruci building is a reflection of the school’s 86-year journey in providing Catholic education in Coorparoo.
Cruci will support the new intake of Year 7 students next year and a future expansion for a Performing Arts Theatre.
Loreto College principal Cheryl Hamilton said Cruci was a sign of the “next significant and important page in our story”.
“The new building represents the College’s commitment to excellence in education,” Mrs Hamilton said.
“This development will give Loreto girls, present and future, the opportunity to be educated within an intentionally collaborative learning environment.”
Guests connected to Loreto’s past, present and future attended an official opening on October 19.
Loreto province leader Sister Margaret Mary Flynn opened the building while Our Lady of Mt Carmel parish prest Carmelite Friar Paul Sireh blessed Cruci.
The building opening started with festivities at the college’s fifth annual Live and Wired music festival and art show.
The college’s master plan development includes a expansion to the home economics, hospitality and textiles department and the school tuckshop.
