NICOLA Mullins believes the All Hallows’ School chapel is a treasure worth sharing.
For that reason Nicola, a photographer and past pupil of the school in Brisbane, has produced a 70-page coffee table book of images taken in and around the historic building.
She said it was only after her daughter joined the school last year that she truly appreciated the beauty and spirituality of the chapel.
“I went there for 12 years. We are actually fourth generation All Hallows’ but I don’t think you really see or appreciate what’s around you when you are there,” Nicola said.
She said that, while attending her daughter’s weekly liturgies, she was inspired to capture the sacredness and history of the chapel.
“I spent two photo sessions in and around the chapel and compiled my own book and had it and a second one printed that I gave to the Sisters of Mercy at Bardon,” she said.
“The book also includes photos of the exterior of the convent and it was suggested that it could be a produced to raise funds for the school.”
Nicola said that, since copies of the book became available several months ago, about 300 copies had been sold.
“With the school’s 150th anniversary coming up in two years it’s the type of thing that past pupils and those associated with the schools would really enjoy,” she said.
Nicola said copies of the book were available from the school or from various past-pupil and reunion celebrations.
