AMANDA Crocetti has turned a blank brick wall at St William’s Catholic Primary School, Grovely, into a work of art.
Using the school’s Walk in God’s Hand logo as her inspiration, the art teacher created a huge ray of sunshine that has brought a bright new change to the community.
The mural incorporated the rolling hills, taken from the surrounding landscape of the school and formed into the shape of God’s hands, guiding and caring for the students of St William’s.
Clay lady beetles created and painted by students from Prep to Year 3 and a new addition to the school logo, wind their way through the rolling hills over a small trail.
The lady beetles are a symbol of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop who loved all things in nature, in particular lady beetles.
They were created in her honour to keep her spirit alive at St William’s.
Mrs Crocetti, who worked on the school mural for several weeks, was overwhelmed by the support she received to complete the project.
Staff, parents, students and younger siblings, some as young as three years old, helped in some way to complete it.
Mrs Crocetti said it was a wonderful community-building experience that would be a bright reminder to all of what can be done when everybody worked together.
Principal Anthony Lucey said he was impressed by the significant change that had been created.
“We had a blank wall and now we have a bright reminder to all who pass that we at St William’s Walk in God’s Hand,” Mr Lucey said.
He said all the students, staff and parents loved the bright new change the mural had made to St William’s.
