WHEN Rockhampton’s Deacon Andrew Hogan is ordained a priest on December 3, it will be on the same sacred ground that fashioned his Catholic faith.
Deacon Hogan’s most significant Catholic moments have taken place at Rockhampton’s St Joseph’s Cathedral, his ordination next month likely to be the climax.
“Faith and Catholicity were always a part of my family life and my participation in church life centred around St Joseph’s Cathedral,” Deacon Hogan said.
When he returns to Rockhampton next month, it will solidify a vocational calling he fostered at an early age.
“The idea of priesthood has been with me for a long time, since I was a child,” he said.
Blessed moments have fortified the Deacon’s journey to the priesthood, the greatest being a meeting with Pope Francis last December.
Deacon Hogan’s parents Robert and Sharyn Hogan are confident their son will make a great priest.
“He can talk to anyone – young or old. People will often say to me you can have a really good conversation with Andrew,” Mrs Hogan said.
Deacon Hogan’s Ordination Mass is on December 3 at 7pm at St Joseph’s Catholic Cathedral in William St, Rockhampton, and is open to the public.
