BURPENGARY Catholics are waiting with excitement for the world famous Iona Passion Play to re-enact the last few hours of Christ’s life at the community’s school.

St Eugene College hall will host the performance of Christ’s passion on April 6 at 7pm.

The college’s assistant to the principal for religious education Peter Ivers said it would be “a full house” for the school performance.

“Things are starting to get pretty exciting around here,” Mr Ivers said.

The Iona Passion Play has performed somewhere in Australia annually since 1958.

It has travelled over 50,000km and has been witnessed by more than half a million people.

This year the group is performing in Burpengary on April 6, and at Iona College, Wynnum, on Good Friday, April 18, and Holy Saturday, April 19.

The cast of Iona veterans and local talent have undergone months of rehearsals and training to bring the story of the Gospel to life ahead of Easter.

Tickets can be booked by phone on (07) 3333 1993 or online at www.passionplay.org.au.
