ST Gerard Majella Church at West Chermside is attracting hundreds of people every night to see it shine the Christmas spirit.
The parish decided to decorate the church and enter Brisbane’s Christmas Lights Competition for the second year running.
The church may have missed out on a prize this year but that hasn’t stopped spectators driving from all over Brisbane’s northside to see it sparkle.
Parish secretary Kate Scutt said parishioners and helpers pitched in to set up the lights, a crib and Christmas tree, with one even donating a crane.
The parish is staffing a gift shop and a coffee shop and St Gerard’s Choir will sing carols from 7.30pm tomorrow (December 19).
The parish’s Christmas celebrations will include an outdoor Mass on Christmas Eve at 6pm that will feature live camels, donkeys, actors and a baby to help act out the Gospel.
St Gerard Majella Church at 146 Maundrell Tce will be open from 7pm-10pm every night until Christmas Eve.
