CENTACARE honoured the “hidden work” achieved by thousands of its staff and volunteers at their annual awards at Customs House on October 31.
Centacare’s Amelia House service manager Rosemary Poulgrain said a large number of award recipients were shocked to receive recognition.
“A few of the people I’ve spoken to have said they’d rather not be getting the awards, they’d rather just be doing the work,” Mrs Poulgrain said.
“I think it says a lot about Centacare staff, that their hearts are in the right place and that they want to do it because of the belief in the mission of the organisation.”
Mrs Poulgrain said Centacare also acknowledged their service support division for providing training to deal with recent organisational changes.
