ST Stephen’s Cathedral has begun a recruitment drive for its all-male choir and mixed Cathedral Chorus.
Director of music Dr Ralph Morton said boy trebles aged between eight and 13 years were especially needed for the choir.
“Singing is a lot of fun,” he said. “Rehearsals are friendly, fast-paced action events.
“The choir provides boys with great opportunities to participate in many important events in the city’s religious and cultural life.”
Dr Morton said choristers underwent a graded program of vocal and musical training.
“Being in a choir develops musical skills such as music reading, aural training and is a particular help for those undertaking instrumental examinations,” he said.
