YEAR 11 student at St Andrew’s, Redlynch, Georgia Krause will spend part of her Christmas holidays back in a classroom.
Georgia is one of 18 students from North Queensland, Far North Queensland and the Northern Territory selected to attend the National Youth Science Forum in January.
The Rotary Club of Cairns supported Georgia’s nomination as Rotary is the founding partner of NYSF. The forum is unique in Australia and students are selected during Year 11 to attend the NYSF the following year.
The sessions will be held in Perth and Canberra where participants will learn how to make informed decisions about courses and careers in the sciences and gain a professional skill set to help them realise their potential.
St Andrew’s principal Lee MacMaster said he was proud of the hard work and dedication Georgia showed.
“Georgia is an exceptional student and we are very proud of her success,” he said. “We wish her all the best at the forum and look forward to hearing about her experiences.”
Mr MacMaster also acknowledges Georgia’s science teachers.
“We have very dedicated teachers and support staff at St Andrew’s who also deserve recognition for their support and commitment to all of their students,” he said.
