MEMBERS of St Padre Pio Parish, Glenmore Park, in Western Sydney continue to pray for a 10-year-old boy fighting for life after last week’s fatal helicopter crash on the Gold Coast.
Nicholas Tadros had just taken off on a Sea World joy flight with his mother, 31-year-old Vanessa Tadros, when it collided with another helicopter attempting to land.
Ms Tadros died in the crash, as did pilot Ashley Jenkinson and a British couple on holidays.
Parishioners at St Padre Pio church, where Nicholas received his holy communion, held a Mass for the boy and his grieving father, Simon, on January 7.
Parish priest Fr Suresh Kumar told the congregation the tragedy was a reminder of the uncertainty of life.
“There are some things in our life we cannot explain,” he said.
“Life changes altogether in a fraction of a second.”
He said the boy’s father, Simon Tadros, had lost his wife and was praying his son would wake from a coma soon.
“He has no time even to grieve,” he said.
“He needs to be next to the bed of his son who is fighting for life.”
Young Nicholas Tadros is being treated at the Queensland Children’s Hospital for injuries suffered during the tragic collision.
He underwent a number of operations in Gold Coast University Hospital and was transferred to Brisbane over the weekend.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is probing the crash and is expected to complete an investigation between July and September 2024.
