TOWNSVILLE Bishop Tim Harris joined the Preps and Year 1s of St Anthony’s Catholic College, Deeragun, to bless their new early-learning centre.

Parish priest Fr Giles Setter, Townsville Catholic Education executive director Jacqui Francis, director of leadership and school development Ross Horner and State Member for Townsville Scott Stewart were among guests attending.

The new facilities, known as the Primi Anni Centre, were a $1.3 million renovation to modernise the facilities for the school’s youngest students.

Assistant principal for religious education for the Padua campus Jan Allen said it was a marvellous new addition to the school.

“We did a blessing and rededication of the building,” she said. “It’s marvellous, it really is; it’s taken our classrooms up to 21st century learning.”

Among the additions was installing learning walls in each class, with whole walls having whiteboards. When opened up at the middle, the walls have large TV screens.
