AUSTRALIAN Catholic University (ACU National) student Amy Banson has completed a 1463 km personal journey to raise money and awareness about Acquired Brain Injuries (ABI).
Amy, who studies at ACU National’s Canberra Campus (Signadou), walked from Brisbane to Canberra as part of a personal challenge and a tribute to 21-year-old Clea Rose who was killed last year when a stolen car hit her at the Canberra Civic bus interchange.
If Ms Rose had survived, she would likely have been severely affected by brain injuries.
This led Amy to investigate the consequences of ABI and organise the “Walk with a Rose” to raise money and awareness of the condition.
Amy arrived in Goulburn on July 26, where she attended the opening of the Southern Area Brain Injury Service’s Transitional Living Unit at the Bourke Street Health Service.
More than 200 people joined Amy on the last leg of her walk.
Money raised by her Walk with a Rose will be donated to Camp Breakaway, a respite care camp on the NSW Central Coast.
