THE organisers of an annual pro-life walk held in Brisbane on May 13 are concerned that people do not care about abortion any more and believe most of the public have decided to accept the death of close to 100,000 babies in Australia each year.
Right to Life Australia Queensland co-ordinator Graham Preston said he was expecting 5000 people to take part in the Walk for Little Feet from a Bowen Hills abortion clinic to Parliament House on May 13, but only about 100 turned up.
Mr Preston said the lack of numbers at the march showed that much of the Christian community had accepted abortion.
Mr Preston said more than 400 Church leaders from across Brisbane were invited to the protest, but only one turned up.
He said if Church leaders did not consider the issue important, Australia was in a sorry state.
Mr Preston and fellow co-ordinator, wife Liz, also took part in demonstrations to speak out against the abortion of a 23-week-old baby of a prisoner in a Queensland jail and the visit to Brisbane on May 16 of RU486 bill sponsor Senator Lyn Allison.
