ALBANY Creek parish’s award-winning Albany Fair has taken its achievements and entertainment to a new level.
The annual fair, which won Pine Rivers Shire Council’s 2003 Community Event of the Year award for last year’s event, was again an outstanding success on June 1.
Convener Gavin Roneberg said an official figure was not yet available but the net profit was at least $76,176, up on last year’s figure of $70,000.
Mr Roneberg said the increase was probably due to increased patronage and the work being done by stall conveners to boost available stock.
He said police estimated 8000 to 10,000 people attended.
The crowd was treated to a carnival atmosphere on the All Saints’ School oval where there was a range of rides and amusements.
Other highlights included performances by every class from Preschool to Year 7. These attracted large numbers of parents and grandparents.
