A BRISBANE parish priest is to face court later this month charged with an historic count of sexual abuse.

In line with protocols adopted by the Catholic Church in Australia, Darra Jindalee parish priest Fr Dan Carroll has been stood aside while the legal process is underway.

Fr Carroll denies the sexual abuse allegation that dates back more than 40 years.

Darra Jindalee parishioners have been informed of the allegation, and the appointment of Fr Roger Burns as parish administrator.

“The complainant did not contact the Archdiocese, so our knowledge of this allegation is limited,” a statement from the Brisbane Archdiocese said.

“At all times we offer support to any complainants in a period that can be extremely stressful for them.

“Our prayers are with all involved with this matter including the complainant, Fr Dan and you as members of the Darra Jindalee parish.

“The Church is always willing to speak with anyone who wishes to raise concerns about a safeguarding matter.”
