This is a letter from ARCHBISHOP MARK COLERIDGE to the people of the Archdiocese of Brisbane about the success of the Annual Catholic Campaign.
IN June of this year we inaugurated the Annual Catholic Campaign throughout the Archdiocese of Brisbane.
From Childers to Coolangatta and everywhere in between, parishes and schools came together to raise much-needed funds for important ministries of the Church in this part of the world.
The campaign raised funds to support our social service agency, Centacare, to educate our seminarians at Holy Spirit Seminary, to help financially disadvantaged families access our schools, to support our sick and retired clergy, and also create a fund for use by a variety of new ministries such as university outreach.
All the hard work proved successful.
In its first year, the Annual Catholic Campaign has raised more than $1million. The theme of this year’s campaign was “You Make a Difference to Me”.
There is no doubt that the funds raised will make a genuine difference to many people.
Very simply and sincerely, I want to thank each of you for your gift.
I am grateful to parish priests and parishioners, to principals and parents, to teachers and students, to long-time supporters and new contributors.
All of you have offered a gift that is more than money.
It is a gift that reaches out to those in need; it is the outreach of Jesus himself.
By working together and pooling our resources for the sake of the Gospel, we can make a difference, not just to the Church but to society as a whole.
May God bless you and the work you have made possible in and through the Church in Brisbane and beyond.
