A place of prayer and blessings in Brisbane’s own backyard

Santa Teresa Ormiston

Time out: The sacred spaces, the peace and tranquillity that allows people to be renewed and refreshed after a visit to Santa Teresa Spirituality Centre.

SANTA Teresa Spirituality Centre has hosted nine Pilgrims Days during the Year of Mercy for parish groups and individuals to come away and spend a day in quiet reflection and prayer.

After an initial welcome, prayer and orientation session, pilgrims are given a wide range of activities and resources that can be used to think about their relationship with God within the context of mercy.

More than 550 pilgrims, most of whom have visited the centre for the first time, have been delighted by what they have discovered.

A Caloundra parishioner described her experiences in these words: “I felt like I have been in God’s garden all day.”

For another pilgrim, their day was “time away from the hustle and bustle of life and a rare opportunity for some quiet”.

A parishioner from Capalaba valued the time to ponder for “when I take time to listen to my own thoughts, I can hear a message from my God”.

Many pilgrims spoke of the natural beauty of the environment, the views across the bay to North Stradbroke Island, the sacred spaces, the peace and tranquillity that allowed them to be renewed and refreshed.

Whether one comes for a day, overnight or an extended period of retreat, quiet reflection or spiritual formation, Santa Teresa provides a modern facility with 30 ensuited rooms for individuals and groups – lay, religious and clergy.

Contact the centre supervisor on (07) 3286 4011 to make a booking to come and visit this special place which will delight and refresh you.
