FITTING your bed with sheets and pillowcases isn’t just a good habit, but could help many disadvantaged people sleep more comfortably, as students and staff at St Patrick’s College, Gympie discovered.

The college had heard their local St Vincent de Paul centre’s emergency relief supplies for bed linen were running low.

Assistant  principal for religious education Tim Malone worked with the college’s senior students in response to the centre’s need.

Over two weeks, the college ran a “Make Your Bed” appeal, asking students to donate bed sheets.

Students were asked to donate bed sheets and pillowcases to give to the centre.

The college collected eight household bins worth of sheets and pillowcases.

Mr Malone said the effort of the college community was a“positive way” to enter into Easter. He said this project was another way of “ensuring the students at St Patrick’s learn to see their role as compassionate future leaders of our society”.
