INVISIBLE FIRE – Understanding the power of Godís Holy Spirit, first given at Pentecost, and in the Sacrament of Baptism and Confirmation
Selina Venier; self-published 2014

Reviewed by Fr Paul W Chandler

IT is with great pleasure that I commend the books that Selina Venier has written so that children may understand the wonder and mystery of the sacraments.

To help our children to be well prepared for these moments of intense encounter with Christ is the high point in the role of parents and other educators in the Faith.

I believe these books are among the best instruments I have encountered for doing this.

Selina has shown in these books her own passion and commitment to the Faith and the Church as well as her deep interest in the faith development of children. She brings to this endeavour her own experience as mother with her children but also as an educator and sacramental co-ordinator of many years.

Selina has a great gift of teaching the Faith with words and activities that engage the minds and hearts of children.

Invisible MudAt the same time, she does not dilute or diminish the content of the Faith but is always true to it, not only in her methods and content but also in her own life.

These books I most strongly recommend for every family and every parish and school.

Invisible Mud, about the Sacrament of Penance, and Invisible Fire, about the Sacrament of Confirmation, are both available from St Paul’s Bookstores in Brisbane and Sydney, Christian Supplies, Brisbane, and The Catholic Leader.

They have been illustrated by Brisbane graphic designer Veronika Plant.

The third in the series, Invisible Presence, about the Eucharist, will be available in June.
