RISING Brisbane country musician Bridget O’Shannessy (pictured) had her childhood wish granted when she made her debut performance in America’s music city last week.
The 16-year-old from Brisbane played her first live performance in Nashville, Tennessee, as a finalist for an international song competition.
The talented young singer also met with major music producers, record company representatives and songwriters to discuss her future career in music.
Miss O’Shannessy, who is from a Catholic family, told The Catholic Leader ahead of the trip that it had always been her dream to play in Nashville.
“Since 2009, I have played main stages in Tamworth, opened for the PBR Rodeos around Queensland, Ekka, Brisbane International Tennis, and played major shows in Brisbane and Sydney,” she said.
“My music video ‘In My Head’ plays regularly on Foxtel’s Country Music Channel and has over 75,000 views on YouTube, and now I get to play and share my music in Nashville.”
After performing in Nashville, the young musician took to the main stage at the Vancouver Fashion Week to play for renowned international designer Jeff Garner.
Miss O’Shannessy, a former student from Brigidine College, Indooroopilly, will complete Year 12 at Brisbane’s Music Industry College later this year.
She made her debut performance in 2009, and has since played before hundreds at Tamworth, the Queensland Music Design Awards, and sang the Australian national anthem for the opening of the Brisbane Ekka.
Before heading to Nasvhille, Miss O’Shannessy played an original song, Footprints, at the Easter Sunday Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Durong, north-west of Brisbane.
